These trimesters highlight the key developmental stages and physical changes that occur during pregnancy, both for the fetus and the pregnant individual. Each trimester brings its own set of milestones and medical check-up recommendations to ensure the health of both the mother and the baby.
This trimester includes conception (which actually occurs about two weeks after the first day of the last menstrual period, which is technically counted as part of the pregnancy in dating terms). The first trimester is a critical period for the development of the fetus, as the foundations for all major organs are laid down.

This is often considered the "easiest" trimester, as many of the early pregnancy symptoms such as nausea tend to diminish. During this period, the risk of miscarriage also decreases significantly. It’s during the second trimester that the gender of the baby can usually be identified (around week 20), and the fetus grows significantly, developing more defined features and beginning to move actively.

This trimester marks significant growth and maturation of the fetus. The baby gains a lot of weight and the organs prepare for life outside the womb. This period is also physically demanding for the pregnant person as the body prepares for delivery. Common symptoms include back pain, swelling of limbs, and more frequent urination.
